The diameter of a needle influences the ink flow. The narrower the diameter of the needle, the finer and more controlled the ink flow that flows out of it. Liners are especially popular with make up artists for pigmenting fine hairline drawings, lip contours and defined eyeliners. Flats are spread flat needles. This means that the needles form two rows at the tip, an odd number in the bottom row and an even number in the top row. Flat needles are mainly used for filling and shading and are held at an angle to the skin.
