Ampuwa is highly pure water that does not contain any dissolved substances and therefore has the property of penetrating cells to an excessive degree (Ampuwa is hypotonic). Therefore, Ampuwa must be administered only in the form of a ready-to-use preparation.
Ampuwa irrigation solution in the Plastipur screw bottle is used pre-, intra- and postoperatively.
