Sterilized water is urgently needed for cleaning instruments, materials and wounds. In Switzerland, for example, the use of drinking water and distilled water for tattooing or pigmentation was already banned at the beginning of 2017.
Ampuwa is highly pure water that does not contain any dissolved substances and therefore has the property of penetrating cells to an excessive degree (Ampuwa is hypotonic). Therefore, Ampuwa must be administered only in the form of a ready-to-use preparation. Ampuwa irrigation solution in the Plastipur screw bottle is used pre-, intra- and postoperatively.
